[Also in Division D1] A machine for producing a continuous web on which yarns 20, 21 are fed in a flat helix around edge yarns 10, 11 comprises spaced spools 17 and guides 19 mounted on a rotating conveyer 16. The edge forming yarns 10, 11 are pulled through tubes 12, 13 by rollers (not shown) which tubes form the axes for the conveyer supporting wheels 14, 15. The speeds of the conveyer and yarns 10, 11 are adjustable to produce various types of fabric. The yarns may be adhered by heat sealing and/or pressure between a pair of contra-rotating heated rollers 23. Man-made fibres or metallic wire may be used for the yarns 10, 11 and additional yarns 22 may be added. Synthetic sheet material may be fed above and/or below the network at 18 and bound to the network components. |
