PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-manufacture high resolution acoustic ink jet recording head in which an acoustic wave propagates to eject ink liquid drops at high efficiency. SOLUTION: The acoustic ink jet recording head 10 comprises a piezoelectric element 28 formed on a substrate 12 and since an acoustic Fresnel lens 16 is provided thereon, the substrate 12 does not exist between. Consequently, an ultrasonic wave emitted from the piezoelectric element 28 reaches the acoustic Fresnel lens 16 without being diffused or attenuated. An image having high image quality can be formed by driving the piezoelectric element 28 at a frequency in the range of 100 MHz-200 MHz. Furthermore, manufacture is facilitated as compared with a method where zinc oxide is produced by thin film forming technology by producing a piezoelectric 14 for forming the piezoelectric element 28 from a polymer piezoelectric.
