PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive ring or drum made of a fiber reinforced composite material, wherein the damage of fibers at the time of compounding molding is reduced and the control or inclination of a fiber volume ratio is easy. SOLUTION: In the ring made of the fiber reinforced composite material formed by subjecting a preform to compounding molding, the preform has a cylindrical drum and a matrix metal layer formed by spraying a matrix metal on the continuous fibers wound around the outer peripheral part of the cylindrical drum. Since the molten matrix metal is sprayed on the continuous fibers wound around the outer peripheral part of the cylindrical drum, the intertices of the continuous fibers can be filled with the matrix metal at a high density. Therefore, the deformation quantity of the preform at the time of compounding molding can be reduced extremely and the damage of the continuous fibers is prevented to enhance the mechanical strength of the ring made of the composite material.
