PURPOSE: Device and method for controlling an electric side mirror are provided to prevent an accident and to remove blind area by rotating the side mirror through manipulation of a direction indicate lever. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling an electric side mirror comprises three rectifier circuit units(11,12,13) outputting a turn signal applied by the manipulation of a direction indicating lever; plural photoelectric converters(21,22,23); a micom(30) outputting a control signal to remove blind area according to the turn signal applied through the photoelectric converter; an electric motor mounted in the side mirror; first and second power switching units(41,42) rotating the side mirror by applying the power to the electric motor according to the control signal of the micom; and a select switch interlocked according to the manipulation of the direction indicating lever. Thereby, the electric side mirror-controlling device removes the blind area by rotating the side mirror according to the manipulation of the direction-indicating lever to prevent an accident.
