SUBSTANCE: method comprises treatment of original substance which is spent catalyst of process of conversion of methane to hydrogen containing aluminium oxide and Ni2+ or spent hydrogenation catalyst and nonselective purification of gases containing aluminium oxide and palladium ions, with mixture of acids at Al2O3 :H2C2O4:HNO3 weight ratio of 1:(0.02-0.2):(0.01-0.08) and heat treatment at 400-1000 C. In this case, spent catalysts are preferably ground to particle size of 20-50 mcm, and after acid treatment, plastification is carried out with water in the presence of surfactants followed by molding and after heat treatment at 400-1000 C, and calcination is further carried out at 1100-1400 C. Method makes it possible to prepare from cheap stock (spent catalysts) porous aluminium based carrier having high crushing strength. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 3 cl
