PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling a jet engine, capable of preventing a human error by reducing a burden on an operator and shortening the time needed for the engine to be restarted after a flameout. SOLUTION: This controller CONT comprises a pressure detector 1, capable of detecting the outlet pressure of the compressor P of a jet engine E and an ignition device 2 capable of igniting the jet engine E, and determines based on the results detected by the pressure detector 1 as to whether the jet engine E is in the operating state. When the controller determines that the engine is not in the operating state, based on the information on the outlet pressure of the compressor P, the controller determines as to whether the engine can be restarted and instructs the ignition device 2 to perform a prescribed treatment for the restarting operation.
