PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas safety device, capable of filling up maintenance by sensing the operation of a GHP according to the detection of instantaneous flow rate which utilizes ultrasonic wave. SOLUTION: The gas safety device is provided with an ultrasonic measuring part, having an ultrasonic sensor 1 for measuring a using amount of a gas and a measuring channel 2, a control circuit 7 for determining whether or not a gas using state is normal, a shut-off valve 3 for shutting off the gas if a fault occurs, a communication interface 8 for communicating with an external center, and a GHP use determining means 9 for determining that a gas heat pump is being used from a change pattern of the flow rate. Thus, the use of the GHP can be confirmed by an external sensor.
