PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waiting screen display method of a radio receiver, which gives display at the time of waiting to be special message display on a special day for a user individual such as a birthday and can strongly appeal that it is the special day to the user. SOLUTION: In the waiting screen display method of the radio receiver, a setting day and a message and melody, which are suitable for respective days, are made to correspond and they are stored in a message table 24. At the time of waiting, the control part 21 of a decoder 2 collates a present date with the setting day stored in the message table 24. When the present date is matched with the setting day, the message corresponding to the setting day is displayed and corresponding melody is outputted.
