PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture reproducing system and a display control system which have reduced power consumption, reduced size, decreased costs, and an improved processing speed and are suitably applicable to a portable terminal. SOLUTION: The moving picture reproducing system 500 is constituted of a DSP 100 and an LCD driver 250 connected with each other via a signal line 198. The DSP 100 comprises a variable length decoder part 40 for performing a variable-length decoding operation to MPEG data, an inverse-quantization part 42 for inversely quantizing the decoded data, and an IDCT part 44 for performing an inverse discrete cosine transform operation, and outputs the data from the IDCT part 44 to an LCD driver 200 via the signal line 198. The LCD driver 200 includes a motion compensation part 52 for performing motion compensation to the data from the DSP 100, a reference frame memory 54 for storing the data from the DSP 100 as reference frame data, and an RGB conversion part 46 for converting YUV components of the data from the DSP 100 or the motion compensation part 52.
