PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover Pt from a Pt-containing film coated on gas turbine engine parts (10). SOLUTION: The part (10) is brought into contact with a chemical releasing agent and the component in the coated film is dissolved and removed to produce the Pt-containing films (12, 14) of oxide product with acid on the surface (16) of the parts (10). Such films (12, 14) are removed from the parts (10) to obtain an enriched Pt-remaining material containing at least about 10% Pt. Such enriched Pt containing material is collected and refined and thus, Pt is recovered from the above material.
