PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open type ultrasonic wave sensor that can be used under a fuel gas atmosphere such as city gas or LPG(liquiefied petroleum gas) and also under an atmosphere where the fuel gas is apt to be liquefied. SOLUTION: This invention provides the open type ultrasonic wave sensor that has a damping member around a sensor element where the damping member is made of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber.
