PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording device and method which are capable of recording contents information while preventing the destruction of all of the contents information needed in reproducing of music information, etc. SOLUTION: When audio information to be recorded is recorded to an MD having a program region recorded with the audio information and plural clusters recorded with the contents information which indicates the contents of the audio information and is used for reproducing the same, the recording is controlled so as to record the contents information in part of the clusters among the plural clusters (steps S4 and S6), to check whether the results of the recording are adequate or not (steps S5 and S7) and to record the same contents information in the other clusters only when the checked recording results are the adequate recording results (steps S6 and S8).
