Prosthesis, has knitted structure of mono- or multifilament biocompatible and/or bioresorbable material, with outer layer of monofilament loops (14a) made into spikes (17) by passing them between rollers (15a, 15b, 16a, 16b) and over a heated cylinder (13) to cause the loop ends to melt. Spiked portion of prosthesis forms self-gripping flap attached to rest of implant by sewn or welded zone.
