PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure pump capable of preventing distortion of a sealing surface and a cylinder shape by reducing changes in an axial force caused by pulsation of fluid pressure during actuation of the high pressure pump, and thus reducing the initial axial force of a tightening bolt. SOLUTION: A solenoid spill valve 10 receiving reaction from a pressurization chamber 14 is mounted to the side of a cover 6 opposite to the side to which a cylinder body 4, a spring seat 22 and a lifter guide 24 are tightened. On receiving the reaction from the pressurization chamber 14, the solenoid spill valve 10 lifts the cover 6 to ease tightening of the cylinder body 4, the spring seat 22 and the lifter guide 24. This decreases the reaction caused by the tightening. Thus, changes in the axial force caused by pulsation of fuel pressure during actuation of the high pressure fuel pump 2 can be reduced and the initial axial force of the tightening bolt 40 is reduced to prevent distortion of each sealing surface and the shape of the cylinder 4a. |
