PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the capacity of a FIFO for temporary storage at the time of encoding and decoding, to increase the processing speed, and to eliminate a need of extending a circuit at the time of enlarging compressed multi-level image data n times (n: integer) in the subscanning direction. SOLUTION: The image processor is provided with a storage part 100 where compressed data is stored, a FIFO 101 which reads out data of n×n lined from the storage part 100 and temporarily stored this data, a decoding part 102 which reads out data from the FIFO 101 and expands this data to output data n lines, a switching circuit 103 which selects and outputs data of n lines outputted from the decoding part 102 line by line, an image processing part 104 which performs image processing of one-line data selected by the switching circuit 103, and an image output part 105 which outputs data subjected to image processing.
