PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To communicate data to a communication partner which has a different data conversion protocol without changing a protocol depending upon the communication partner. SOLUTION: In a system constituted so that terminals 21 and 31 and a server 11 which exchanges documents between the terminals are connected to the Internet 1, EDI protocol for exchanging the documents is described in XML and a message flow and the documents (order form, order confirmation document, bill) are related and defined. The server when receiving a document request from one terminal to the other terminal selects a document according to the message flow, converts the document into a document matched to the protocol of the other terminal, and sends to the other terminal.
