<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the measuring of the tension of a magnetic recording tape. SOLUTION: A tape drive in which a system deciding the amount of tension to be applied to a magnetic recording tape 22 in which there are first and second servo bands (41A, 41B) is included, servo elements constituted so as to read out the first and second servo bands (41A, 41B) and a servo processor 68 which decides the change of the distance between the first and second servo bands (41A, 41B) and detects the change of the amount of the tension in the longitudinal direction of the tape based on the decided change of the distance between the first and second servo bands (41A, 41B) and which is to be used together with the magnetic tape 22, is provided.</p> |
