<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a path setting device and method with which number of labels in use can be decreased to enhance the transfer capability, in a label switching network employing a distance vector type routing protocol. SOLUTION: Upon the receipt of a label request with respect to a new flow, a same path discrimination processing section 28 of a label management section 23 retrieves a label switched path(LSP), having already been set and compares the path with a path included in the label request. When an LSP of the same path as that in the label request exists, the label management section 23 assigns the same label to the label request, and when the LSP as above is not in existence, the label management section 23 assigns a new label to the label request. A switch-setting section 22 sets the LSP, based on the label assigned by the label management section 23.</p> |
