PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent liquid from leaking from a liquid level-detecting device due to change in the liquid surface level of liquid in a container, in the liquid level-detecting device having a breather function for inhibiting the fluctuation of air pressure in the container. SOLUTION: A tubular member 14 is fittedly inserted into an oil pan 3, and a gauge member 13 is inserted into the tubular member 14. A cock member 15 having vent holes 19 is provided at the gauge member 13, and the cock member 15 is engaged with the tubular member 14. The gauge member 13 is provided with a shielding part 16 for reducing the sectional area of the pipeline of the tubular member 14, as compared with those of other pipeline parts.
