<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent bridging of a cold iron source in a preheating chamber upon melting the cold iron source using arc melting equipment having the shaft type preheating chamber directly connected with an upper portion of a melting chamber. SOLUTION: In a method for melting cold iron source using arc melting equipment 1 including a shaft type preheating chamber 3 directly connected with a melting chamber 2, the cold iron source is continuously or intermittently supplied to a preheating chamber so as to keep a situation where the cold iron source is present continuously in the melting chamber and the preheating chamber and simultaneously the cold iron source in the melting chamber is melted with an arc 19. Further, the cold iron source is collapsed in the melting chamber by applying vibration to the cold iron source positioned at a lower portion or at a lower position in the preheating chamber by making use of a vibrator 11 installed in the preheating chamber, and when a molten iron 17 of a predetermined amount is accumulated in the melting chamber, the molten iron is tapped in a situation where the cold iron source is continuously present in the melting chamber and the preheating chamber.</p> |
