PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch which can be used without trouble within constant temperatures also in a cold district. SOLUTION: The optical switch has an optical fiber switching means to connect at least one of moving side optical fiber to a plurality of stationary side optical fibers by displacing it, and is provided with a package to house the optical fiber switching means. At least a part of the package is formed of the ceramic of a self-temperature control type with positive temperature characteristics. Electricity is always supplied to the ceramic, and when its temperature up is performed more than the Curie point of the ceramic, the electric resistance of the ceramic increases rapidly, then the temperature up stops, and the optical switch is held to nearly a constant temperature. |
