摘要 PURPOSE: A field emission type cold cathode structure and electron gun is provided to reduce power consumption for heating the cold cathode and allow data and image to be displayed onto a screen in a rapid manner. CONSTITUTION: A field emission type cold cathode structure comprises a plurality of emitter chips(105,105a) arranged at a predetermined spacing onto a base electrode(102); a gate electrode(104) formed around emitter chips; an insulation layer(103) for electrically insulating the base electrode and the gate electrode; and a low melting point metallic layer(61) formed between the base electrode and each of emitter chips. A predetermined DC voltage is applied to the space between the base electrode and the gate electrode. A focus electrode is formed onto the gate electrode with an insulation layer interposed between the gate electrode and focus electrode, and a control electrode is formed onto the focus electrode with an insulation layer interposed between the focus electrode and control electrode.
