PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material supplying method which eliminates the need for operation, such as transport stop and transport restart, of sheet materials according to the progression condition, etc., of processing in a unit located downstream in image formation to subject the sheet material to scanning exposure and with which the downsizing of the device, reduction in the number of various kinds of sensors, simplification of transport control of the sheet materials, etc., are made possible. SOLUTION: The sheet materials complying with the prints to be formed are supplied from a supplying section and after the sheet materials are subjected to scanning exposure in an image-forming section, the sheet materials are arrayed to a single row or plural rows with prescribed sorting patterns at a sorting section and are supplied to the ensuring processing device. At this time, the supply timing of the sheet material supplied next from the supplying section is determined, according to the transporting speed of the sheet materials from the supply section to a sorting section, the transport speed of the sorting section, the sorting patterns of the sheet materials, the length of the previously supplied sheet materials, the length of the sheet materials to be supplied next and the time, when the sheet material one sheet before is supplied from the supplying section.
