PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-reading device which easily allows exchanging of filters to cut off excitation light and is capable of reading an image with a high signal-to-noise ratio by using optimum filters according to the wavelength of the light to be detected. SOLUTION: The image-reading device has a laser excitation light source 1, an image carrier 22, a scanning mechanism which scans the surface of the image carrier 22 by a laser beam 4 emitted from the laser excitation light source 1 and excites the image carrier 22 by the laser beam 4, a filter unit 28 and the photodetector 29 which photoelectrically detects the light emitted by the excitation of the image carrier 22. The filter unit 28 has plural filter members 31 which respectively have at least one filter and a movable fixing base 60. The plural filter members 31 are removably mounted at the fixing base 60. The fixing base 60 is formed movably between positions, where each of the plural filter members 31 exists selectively within the optical path of the light emitted from the image carrier 22 and a filter exchange position, where the plural filter members 31 and the photodetector 29 do not interfere with each other.
