PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a battery and specify that the cause of a failure to start lies in the trouble of an intake throttle valve, by rapidly detecting and notifying the failure of the intake throttle valve at starting. SOLUTION: Troubleshooting means S210 to S260 take in a sucked amount AFS detected by an intake amount detection means 12, when a prescribed time KTAFL is passed immediately after the start of a diesel engine 2, and when the sucked amount AFS is smaller than a judged value AFSF, the intake throttle valve 10 is judged as being faulty. If the intake throttle valve is judged to be faulty by the trouble judgment means S210 to S260 continuously by plural number of times, notifying means S280 to S310 notify by lighting up an error lamp 22. Thus, a trouble can be detected rapidly at starting and can be notified to the occupants of a vehicle, such as a driver that a defective start has occurred due to the trouble with the intake throttle valve 10.
