摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problem of a conventional solid-state image pickup element that has not reduced the power consumption and has imposed a load onto a post-stage signal processing system because a drive frequency is unchanged although the information quantity is reduced by the interleave processing when the interleaving processing of pixel information is conducted by an external signal processing system after reading all the pixel information from the conventional image pickup element. SOLUTION: The solid-state image pickup element employs an XY address type solid-state image pickup element (e.g. a MOS image sensor) that is provided with color filters 27 having color coding patterns where two-rows and two- columns are repeated in the unit (repetition of vertical 2-pixels and horizontal 2-pixels). When an interleave read mode is designated, the clock frequency of a system is converted into 1/9 and pixels are selected by skipping two pixels each in both row and column directions on the basis of the converted clock frequency so as to sequentially read a pixel signal.</p>
