PURPOSE: Method and apparatus for bulging a metal container are provided in which the metal container is formed by applying the fluid pressure of a high pressure into a material stacked around dies so that a product having a large bulging amount as well as a large-sized product having a large volume regardless of shape, depth or diameter thereof can be bulged promptly and exactly. CONSTITUTION: The method for bulging a metal container comprises the processes of fitting a material to be processed(a) into a material holder(26) having a channel(34) connected with a pressing cylinder(14); and supplying a fluid pressed by a plunger(24) in a pressing chamber(22) of a pressing cylinder(14) to a gap between the material to be processed(a) surrounded by bulging dies(38,38') and the material holder(26) positioned inside the material to be processed(a). The apparatus comprises a pressing cylinder(14) fixed at the center of a bed(12); a plunger(24) which is connected with a ram(18) of a lower hydraulic cylinder(16) and inserted into a pressing chamber(22) of the pressing cylinder(14); a pressing cylinder(14) and a fluid level controlling bath(54) which are connected by a fluid supply line(52) having a check valve(56); and a material holder(26) which has a channel(34) connected with the pressing chamber(22) and linked to the pressing cylinder(14), wherein separable bulging dies(38,38') are closely adhered by separable die fixtures(50,50') fixed to a middle body(48), the separable bulging dies(38,38') are coupled and separated at both sides of the material holder(26) into which the material to be processed(a) is fitted, and the middle body(48) is ascended or descended by a ram(46) of an upper hydraulic cylinder(44). |
