PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for converting a two-dimensional video image into a three-dimensional video image that can suppress a converted image from being distorted in the case that a distance scale conversion is used to convert a depth estimate amount into a parallax amount. SOLUTION: In the case that a maximum value of a phase difference within adjacent parallax calculation areas is at the outside of a predetermined distortion permissible range, a dynamic range to bring the phase difference within the parallax calculation area into the distortion permissible range is searched, distance scale conversion using the retrieved dynamic range is applied to each depth estimate value to obtain a tentative target phase amount for each parallax calculation area. |
