PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document reader which easily and properly removes a shade caused by reading a thick document like a book without user's special setting operation. SOLUTION: With respect to a document reader 1 provided with a document read part 2 and a pressing cover 3 which is provided on the upper face of the document read part 2 so that it can be opened and closed, an image read by the document read part 2 is subjected to prescribed image editing when a read start instruction is issued with the pressing cover 3 open. This image editing erases an image having a certain width in the peripheral part of the document or/and that in the center part in the lengthwise direction of the document. An open/close detection part 4 which detects the open/close state of the pressing over 3 is provided, and prescribed image editing is performed in accordance with the detected open/close state of the pressing cover 3. |
