PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the loss of light that is caused by the closing action of a mechanical shutter in a high speed shutter mode. SOLUTION: An emitter emitting a constant degree of brightness is photographed with a mechanical shutter kept open, with prescribed aperture valueαand with an electronic shutter opened for prescribed exposure time Y3 of a high speed shutter action. At the same time, a camera microcomputer records the quantity D of light inputted from an integration value calculation circuit in a memory when no loss of quantity of light is caused as shown in Fig. 10 (A). Then the mechanical shutter is operated with same exposure time Y3 and aperture valueαfor the purpose of photographing the emitter. The integration value D' is decided about the quantity of received light as shown in Fig. 10 (B) when the loss of light is caused. Then the exposure start timing is varied and the exposure start timing Tn of exposure time Yn set when D=D' is defined is recorded in the memory as the shutter timing correction value to the time Y3 of a prescribed high speed shutter action.
