PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing device and recording and reproducing device which can correct the regenerative signal level in the high-frequency band specific to a reproducing section and suppress the noise thereof. SOLUTION: The reproducing device which reproduces the information recorded at a magnetic tape 1 by a magnetic head 2 has an equalizer circuit 4 which equalizes the phase of the information reproduced from the magnetic head 2 by using plural characteristics, an equalizer control signal 24 which corrects the deterioration of the information specific to the magnetic tape 1 and the magnetic head 2 by selectively using the plural characteristics of the phase equalization of the equalizer circuit 4 and a comparator 20 which switches the correction operation and therefore the device prevents the degradation in the regenerative signal level in the high-frequency band specific to the reproducing section and does not make high-frequency correction by a graphic equalizer, etc. As a result, the conspicuousness of hysteresis noise does not occur any more.
