PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power storage system which can achieve the elongation of life of a power storage battery and the enhancement of its use efficiency. SOLUTION: In a power storage system, a controller 1 detects the open terminal voltage VO of a power storage battery 8, sets the upper limit value of the charge power/discharge power of the battery 8 based on the detection result, and keeps the charge power/discharge power at its upper limit value in case that the power to be charged/discharged is larger than the upper limit value. Accordingly, it can be prevented from being overcharged/overdischarged to elongate the life of the battery 8.
