PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral roof board device easy to assemble with excellent strength, and a method of constructing the same. SOLUTION: The lateral roof board device comprises a roof board having an approximately U-shaped engagement part at one end and an upwardly inclined engagement part at the other end a connecting member having a part to be mounted to a sheathing board, a connection open on one side to accommodate a watertight connector, and an engagement part to which the one end of the roof board is coupled; and the watertight connector having clamping parts located above and below the connection and the opening and made from a hard resin, with the inner surface of each clamping part having integrally formed therewith a clamping piece made from a soft resin and tilted in depth direction. The connecting member is fixed to the sheathing board, with the connection of the connecting member accommodating and connecting the connection of the watertight connector and forming a cavity 24. The engagement part at the one end of the roof board engages the engagement part of the connecting member to form an air pocket 25; the engagement part at the other end of the roof board is locked with the clamping piece of the watertight connector.
