A method of preserving a limb harvested from a plant. The method involves cutting the limb at an active growth stage, at or adjacent to its proximal end and immediately submerging the cut end of the limb into a solution or suspension including a water soluble copper salt and leaving it in the solution until the solution has filled the vascular system of the limb. Copper sulphate is the preferred copper salt. This method is especially suitable for bamboo stalk or palm frond.
