Cold rolling of metal strip in a combined pickling and cold rolling installation suitable for production at levels between 300,000 and 1,000,000 tonnes per annum

In cold rolling of a metal strip (M) in a continuous line installation with combination of the pickling and cold rolling operations, composition of the pickling fluid is determined to allow the defilement of the strip in the bath at a minimal speed of a few metres per minute and these speed of defilement are maintained in the pickling (2) and rolling (3) sections during all phases of operation. The rolling conditions are determined in a manner to be able to maintain the desired quality of the strip with a minimal rolling speed below 1 metre per minute. An Independent claim is included for an installation for the fabrication of cold rolled strip.
