<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape leader and trailer detector in a tape deck which can detect the trailer of a tape by concentrating and guiding a beam of light emitting element at the reproduction of the tape and rapid traverse operation, and at the feed of the tape only to a light receiving element for tape trailer detection, can detect the leader of the tape by concentrating and guiding the beam only to the light receiving element for tape leader detection when the tape is rewound, has suppressed output in the light emitting element, prolonged service life of the light emitting element and decreased power consumption. SOLUTION: In the tape leader and trailer detector in the tape deck which detects the leader and trailer of the tape in the tape deck by one light emitting element 1 placed near the tape, and the two light receiving elements 2 and 3 placed near right and left of the tape, a prism 4 which guides light emitted from the light emitting element 1 to any direction of the two light receiving elements 2 and 3, and a switching means 5 which switches the direction of the prism 4 are provided.</p> |
