PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device for a starting motor capable of stably providing a predetermined spring characteristic by avoiding deformation of both sidewall parts of a fulcrum part supporting a pin, without necessitating enlargement of the device. SOLUTION: A shift lever 40 has the fulcrum part 40a having both sidewall parts 40e provided with a pair of pin holes 40d for supporting both ends of the pin 42, and has first and second arm parts 40b and 40c extending to both sides across the fulcrum part 40a. Further, a storage recess 43 open on one side is formed to extend from the root of the second arm part 40c to the first arm part 40b. A lever spring 41 is elastically supported against the shift leer 40 while being deflected toward a bottom face 43a by the pin 42 inserted in the pin holes 40d. Further, a cover 44 is pressed into position between both sidewall parts 40e to close the one side of the storage recess 43.
