PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a method and an apparatus for producing a paper yarn, in which the problem which twisting unevenness is always accompanied, is solved when producing a paper yarn by twisting a paper tape. SOLUTION: This method for producing a paper yarn comprises steaming a paper tape 1 and then twisting the paper tape 1. This apparatus for materializing the method is equipped with a spindle 7 for supplying the paper tape 1 sent from sending rollers 2 with twisting power and a heater box 3 which is arranged between the sending roller 2 and the spindle 7 and steams the paper tape 1.
