PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for surface treatment by which the surface of a work is treated surely and continuously by liquid under a predetermined pressure. SOLUTION: A treatment mechanism 1 which is vertically movable and usually energized to be lowered by gravity is provided on a frame 2 which can travel along a rail, a treatment tool 19 of the treatment mechanism 15 is brought into contact with the surface of the work disposed along the rail, by the above energizing, and the surface of the work is continuously treated with the predetermined pressure by using the treatment tool 19 by traveling the frame 2.
