A bi-directional auxiliary actuator is deactivated in the normal state and is activated by the control unit to completely replace a defective actuator deactivated by the control unit. The system has at least two bi-directional actuators (11,12) adjustable by control signals to influence the relative movement between a vehicle wheel (3) and the vehicle structure (4) and a control unit (14) for producing the control signals depending on vehicle state parameter signals. A bi-directional auxiliary actuator (13) is deactivated in the normal state in which the other actuators are working normally and is activated by the control unit to completely replace a defective actuator, which is deactivated by the controller.
