The method involves displaying a limited amount of menu points (32-37) simultaneously in a display field (30, 51 - 57), whereby a presented menu point (36) can be marked and/or activated. At least one point (41) from a corresponding submenu of the menu point is presented in the display area, if the menu point was marked, and if it comprises a submenu. The marked point can preferably be scrolled according to the sequence in the submenu.
