An arrangement comprises a front-end module for providing a telephone caller interface to the system, an application database for storing various voice scripts, an Internet agent module for maintaining web site information on the system and a communications module that interfaces with the Public Switching Telephone Network and the Internet. Operationally, the system interacts with a user in voice to receive requests, such as a request to purchase goods and services or information. The system communicates the request for goods and services or the request for information to a web site via the Internet. The system is also capable of being configured to receive information or questions from web sites, and access people by telephone to present them the information or questions, while receiving the answers to the questions and providing them to the web site. The system also provides two-way communications between a user and a web site. The web site can communicate to the system information that should be forwarded to the user, and the system can contact the user by telephone and provide the information.
