ICON DISPLAYING METHOD AND ICON DISPLAY SYSTEM

A method for displaying icons linked with real data on a monitor of a computer according to a layered directory. When the user rearranges the properties displayed in a property display area (M1) and clicks a rearrangement button , the layered directory displayed in a directory display area (M2) is restructured according to the order of properties rearranged and is displayed. The user traces a path downward from the top through the restructured directory. When the user reaches the lowermost directory layer, icons are displayed in the data display area (M3). When the user clicks one of them, real data is displayed in the data display are (M3). Thus, the user can restructure the directory arbitrarily, and hence the user can easily obtain objective information. Further, by recording the process of restructure, an information provider can obtain information useful for marketing and merchandise development.
