The method involves using a flat photosensitive sensor, input optics and a controller for setting the sensitivity of the photosensitive sensor by performing a first standard measurement within a dwell time with maximum sensitivity, evaluating the resulting signals to determine whether a pixel is saturated or a threshold below saturation is exceeded, performing a second measurement in the dwell time if a pixel is saturated with sensitivity adapted by a predictive estimate and temporarily storing the signal data or second measurement for the next acquisition depending on the result. Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for implementing the method.
