PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for displaying a new arrival of e-mail is provided to increase the convenience of a user by displaying a new arrival of an e-mail to the user without the need for connecting to a server and confirming e-mails one by one, by receiving and storing the e-mail in case that the e-mail is newly received, and by reducing power consumption. CONSTITUTION: In case that a newly-arrived signal detection unit detects a signal newly arrived different to a normal arrived signal(S20). The signal detection unit notifies a front microcomputer that the signal newly arrived is detected. After that, the microcomputer judges whether a present operational power is applied(S30). In case that the operational power is cut off, the operational power is applied(S31). Simultaneously, a light emitting diode is turned on. It is displayed that e-mail is newly arrived(S32). In case that the operational power is applied, a CPU confirms whether the front microcomputer receives a newly-arrived signal. In case that it is confirmed the signal is received, the CPU controls a modem device(S33). In case that data of the e-mail are received(S34), the CPU moves and stores the data temporarily stored in a RAM to the flash memory(S35). The CPU notifies the front microcomputer that the e-mail is received. After that, the front microcomputer controls the switching and cuts off power supply(S36).
