The bed has a subconstruction (3) with a longitudinal beam (1) and transverse beams (2,2') extending the width of the bed, at least one elastic component (4), horizontal tension devices (5), moveable devices and a slatted frame (6) with at least two spaced slats (9) lying partly on the support surface (8) of the tension device. The sprung slats are made of an elastic material, such as foam. A number of lamellae (10) connect the sprung slats. The tension device connects two transverse adjacent orthogonal support beams (11) to a support frame (12) with tension beams (13,13'). The lower sides of the tension beams form a spaced support surface (30) above the lowest surface (29) of the subconstruction and projecting outwards. The support beams are spaced at least 2cm below the support surface of the tension device. At least one transverse beam (2') is arranged at the waist part of a person lying on the bed.
