The safety contact plug system uses a standard appliance socket (2), a cover (23) and a plug, with the cover integrated in the plug housing (21) to provide a plug unit (20) which does not project beyond the wall surface by more than 10 mm. The appliance cable is fed into the plug unit at 90 degrees to the safety contact.
