The invention relates to synthetic aluminosilicates comprising a nepheline or carnegieite structure, which act as thickeners in aqueous systems of suspensions and solutions. The invention also relates to the production of said synthetic aluminosilicates and to their use as thickening agents and as control and thixotropic agents for ceramic bodies, glazes and enamels. In addition, the invention makes available glaze and enamel slips, ceramic bodies, dyes and pastes, which contain the aforementioned synthetic aluminosilicates.
