Process for molding a hollow body into a component produced by thixoforming comprises inserting partially liquid material (28) into a first opening of the hollow body during thixoforming. The hollow body is filled with an auxiliary material (S) which limits the penetration of the partially liquid material before thixoforming, and liberated from the auxiliary material through a second opening after thixoforming. AN Independent claim is also included for a device for molding a hollow body into a component comprising a die having a recess for the hollow body. Preferred Features: The auxiliary material is compressed before thixoforming and is soluble. The material is a salt which dissolved in water simultaneously with the hardening of the component. The hollow body is made of a ceramic material.
