The stand for fixing a sun umbrella in the ground has a sleeve for the umbrella pole which is in two sections (16, 30). The lower section is attached to a pointed end (18) with a screw thread (20). The upper section is mounted directly above the lower section on a U-shaped frame (26, 28) which acts like a drilling brace, allowing the spike to penetrate the soil.
